应国家重点实验室金振民院士邀请，加拿大西安大略大学谢瑞祥教授来我校访问并做学术交流。

报告题目：Journey to the Earth’s deep interior

The post-perovskite is believed to be the high-pressure form of perovskite, the most abundant phase in the lower mantle and may be stable at the bottom of the lower mantle or 200-250 km above the core mantle boundary. Furthermore, the post-perovskite is regarded as relevant to the seismic discontinuity across the D” layer. However, the interpretation based on the pure MgSiO₃ post-perovskite composition cannot be fully responsible for the seismic discontinuities, lateral variations and some features across and with D” layer. Moreover, it is believed that the mantle may consist of certain amounts of minor elements such as iron and aluminum. Therefore, it would be necessary to evaluate the physical properties and structure of the post-perovskite phase with mantle-related compositions at mantle conditions for future purposes. In this talk, the post-perovskite synthesized form a natural enstatite composition and garnet along pyrope-almandine join will be presented.

谢瑞祥教授简介：

谢瑞祥教授，博士毕业于美国夏威夷大学，随后在美国华盛顿卡内基研究所地球物理实验室做博士后，2000年在美国普林斯顿大学继续从事研究工作，2003年担任台湾成功大学助理教授，2005年至今在加拿大西安大略大学地球科学系任副教授，主要研究领域为矿物物理及高温高压科学。谢瑞祥教授曾获SIGMA XI学会奖（1996）、加拿大青年学者奖（2007），已发表论文54篇。
